Abiding In The Deep!

Abiding (Google.com) - lasting a long time, enduring, everlasting, eternal, steadfast.

... searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God (I Cor. 2:10)
Dwell deep... (Jer. 49:8)

"Geologists assure us that there still exists in the deep sea living species of animals which in former geologic periods dwelt in coastal districts of the ocean.  Here they seem to have found an asylum from the dangers which seemed to threaten their very existence.

Just as the safety of these animals depended upon their abiding in the deep sea, even so our own safety as believers on the Lord Jesus Christ depends altogether in our abiding in the secret of the Most High.  No matter how unsafe the surroundings, no matter how disagreeable the circumstances, no matter how unhealthy the climate, just as long as the Child of God has learned the secret of dwelling deep in the refuge that has been provided for the Child of God, there is no danger of his being swamped by anything that may come his way."

"Dwell deep, my soul!  Forbid thou shouldst stay shallow!
Dwell deep in thought, in purpose, wish, and will!
Dwell deep in God.  Let His own presence hallow;
Thy inner being let His presence fill.

Dwell deep, my soul!  The Master's glad returning
May hindered be, through those who shallow stay;
The lukewarm hearts, who know no holy burning,
May hinder much that coming welcome Day!"

Joy In The Journey

What does it mean to have Joy in the Journey?

First, what is the difference between Joy and Happiness?

Happiness is momentary, fleeting.  We are happy for a time according to our circumstances.

Joy is lasting, eternal.  We are eternally joyful no matter the circumstances.

Let's look at what James has to say about Joy... "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.  Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." James 1:2-4.

In our testings and trials we are made stronger.  If we are never tested we have little to no "coping skills".  God knows that if we have too "cushy" a life then any obstacle in the road will throw us into a tailspin.   Perseverance until the end brings us our victory crowns.

Peter had said, "In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith - of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire- may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.  Though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious Joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls. (1 Peter 1:6-9).
Again... what is the difference between Joy and Happiness?

Everything.

Don't lose your Joy in the Journey!

Thanksgiving!

Next week is Thanksgiving already!  Where does the time go?  While pondering Thanksgiving and feeling so thankful for everything our Heavenly Father does for us I randomly opened my Jesus Calling devotional (By Sarah Young) to May 5 (my mother's birthday) pg. 260...

"Come to Me for all that you need.  Come into My Presence with thanksgiving, for thankfulness opens the door to My treasures.  When you are thankful, you affirm the central truth that I am Good  I am Light, in whom there is no darkness at all.  the assurance that I am entirely Good meets your basic need for security.  Your life is not subject to the whims of a sin-stained deity.

"Relax in the knowledge that the One who controls your life is totally trustworthy.  Come to Me with confident expectation.  There is nothing you need that I cannot provide."  End

Happy 16th Birthday Jackie!

Today is our daughter Jackie's 16th birthday.  She's our precious child with something extra... Down Syndrome.  Her name means... gracious gift of God.  That she is.  So special and at times a little stubborn, but full of life, love and joy.  She is the apple of God's eye, she is the apple of our eye.  She is sweet and she is innocent. God Bless our Jackie.  Happy Birthday sweety, we love you so much!

Innocence (repost)

Innocence - the state, quality or fact of being innocent of a crime or offense, lack of guile or corruption, purity.

Oh to be like the innocent
Like we once were
Pure in God's eyes
A treasure for sure

 Not a mean thought
Would ever cross our minds
Just love and laughter was our surmise

We didn't have to ponder
On the wrongs of this world
 For everything around us
Was an adventure for sure
For us to explore
It was new, fresh and exciting
Wonder filled our eyes
The world was inviting

Oh to be like the innocent
To begin again
To be void of sin again
To be pure in God's eyes
And absolutely have nothing to hide

For people to look upon our faces...

And they find them
Just to be kind
And courageous

Oh to be like
The innocent

We look forward to the time
when our worn out faces
Can once again shine

To be like the innocent
We once were
When we were
Pure in God's eyes...

A  real treasure for sure.

Ahh, the innocent among us.  How treasured they are.
The ones who do not cause our God pain.

Help us Lord to be pure and innocent in Your eyes.

From Darkness to Light

"I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life."
John 8:12

This world is chuck full of uncertainties.  It is chaotic and out of control.  Just take a good look at the elections.  As I was pondering all this, I sensed the Lord telling me to be at peace and know that He is in control.  That we are His and He will never leave us.  Never!  That the promises that He has given us are true and will come to fruition.  To not let the enemy make us feel unworthy of His love.  Or that we're not doing enough and thus disqualified.  It's a fearful world we live in. But, we must remember that fear is not from God, but of the enemy.

I sensed He assured me that we are safe in His arms.  That He holds onto us much tighter than we've ever held onto our own children.  That we are His children and the wicked will be punished and purged from the earth.

Then I opened my Everyday In His Presence (Charles F. Stanley) to this...

"From Darkness to Light (Pg. 317) Is there an area of darkness in your life, something that continually causes you fear, such as the future or a challenge you must face?  Do not despair.  The Father wants to relieve the dread you feel by shedding light on your circumstances.

Remember, in the beginning it was God who spoke light into existence, and He did it before creating the sun, moon, and stars (Genesis 1).  This is because His very presence gives light (Revelation 22:5) not just physical radiance, but spiritual illumination.

Of course, you may wish to overcome the uncertainty you feel by seeking your own solutions.  Just understand that only God is light.  And when you fight the dark with more darkness, all you get is deep despair.

Friend, God wants you to see not just the path ahead, but the profound spiritual realities that are affecting your life.  He is ready to help you!  So when you sense the dark fears encroaching, run to Him.  Because when He is your light, you will have nothing to dread."

"In His Presence... the darkness flees."

Also, let us not forget the Poor Souls in Purgatory.  They need our prayers.
