To Seed or Not to Seed?

That is the question.

We planted grapes in our garden from the start.  We love grapes and loved the idea of growing our own.  When we started out my daughter and her husband stopped by Lowe's and picked up three plants of Seedless Purple Grapes.  A couple years later we found them Not to be seedless.

So, I decided to buy a couple more plants this time at Menard's, once again Seedless Purple Grapes.  A couple years later and... they are Not seedless.

So, we then went to a lady in town that sells plants for the garden.  She had a grapevine and was selling plants.  We asked if they were seedless and she said they were.  We asked again and told her our dillema and she stated that she has been growing the same plants herself for years and they are definitely seedless.  Well, now a couple years later and guess what?  They are Not seedless.

Okay God, three strikes and I am out!  Grapes will not grow seedless on this land!  It got me thinking... is God telling us something?

We are like most people and don't like messing with bitter seeds.  However, God did not make grapes without seeds.  Man did that.

Upon further investigation I found how nutritious grape seeds are and taking them out depletes the nutritional value of the fruit.

This is what the Bible has to say about it...

God blessed them: saying, be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.  Have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air and all the living things that move on the earth.  God also said: "See, I give you every seed-bearing plant all over the earth and every tree that has seed-bearing fruit on it to be your food.
Genesis 1:28-29

Here's an interesting article... Seedless Fruit versus Seeded Fruit

Some people do have problems with seeds in their digestive tract, but if not, seeded fruit may need another look.  However, anymore it's hard to find seeded watermelon and grapes in the supermarkets.  The demand for seedless has been so great.

I don't have to go far to get seeded grapes.
My garden won't grow anything else!

God Bless!

Still Waiting...

Below is an excerpt from a post that I originally posted on February 5, 2016.  We are still dealing with situations such as this and also many medical issues.  I am still waiting and will never stop waiting on Our Lord and His awesome plan for us.  There is healing waiting in His wings.  Some days are better, and others are more like this...

Today went well until around 2:40 p.m.  I received a phone call from the school.  That's never good. Jackie missed the bus because she wouldn't get up off the floor in the hallway!  So, I went there and it was a debacle.  Truly it was.  Brooke also missed the bus working with Jackie.  I struggled for 10 minutes along with the school nurse and special needs teacher.  We talked how she is being weaned from the Prozac.  But, we all agreed she's being just plain stubborn, and there is no pill for stubborn.

I opened my Everyday In His Presence book randomly to this...

The Desired Haven
He stilled the storm to a whisper...They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven.
Psalm 107:29-30

The desires and goals God has put in your heart may appear exceedingly far away.  But your heavenly Father has the wisdom and power necessary to get you to your destination.  He understands the best, most effective way to take you down the path that prepares you perfectly for what is ahead.  No, it may not be the way you would have chosen for yourself, but be assured, there is no more wonderful or impactful plan for your life than the one He has created for you.

Some people fail to follow God because they're afraid of the storms of adversity that arise.  But, those difficulties are necessary for the Father to reach the deepest places of your soul and grow to your full potential.  He does so not to hurt you, but to mature you.  Not to limit you, but to show you what's possible and to ready you for His astounding purposes.

So cling to Him and trust His navigation.  And be absolutely assured - He will get you to your desired haven.

Lord, You are my faithful Commander always leading me perfectly.  Help me trust You more, amen.  In His Presence... trust His direction.
I'm clinging to You Jesus!
When You don't move those mountains,
I'm needing You to move,
When You don't part the waters,
I wish I could walk through,
I will trust in You.

Still waiting...

Remember Your Smile

It's been a pretty tough time as of late with our dear Jackie.  At school we've been struggling.  But, we keep going and going, day by day.

The other day I dropped Jackie off in her classroom and a teacher's aide came up to me in the hallway and asked how I was doing.  I said "Oh, okay." and I smiled at her.  She said, "I know it's been rough.  We all want what's best for Jackie, but we just don't know what to do anymore."  I said, "No one knows."

Then she said,  " But you always still smile.  You're always smiling."  I said, "I am?"  She said, "Yes, and you help us.  You lift us up!"

That really made me smile.  We sometimes forget what a simple smile can do.

Later on while thinking on it, I thought to myself... what keeps me smiling?  Then I realized...
God.

"Crosses are the most precious gifts God can give His creature; and the creatures acceptance of them is the most pleasing
sacrifice it can offer it's creator."

May I Have This Dance?

This morning before heading off to school with Jackie (our daughter with special needs), we were standing in the kitchen and I was talking to her about her school day ahead.  We've been really struggling with many things.  We are so weary.

I was looking straight into Jackie's eyes discussing various areas that needs improvement.  She kept staring back at me quietly with eyes wide open... just staring.  I knew she was not really retaining all that I was saying.  After a moment of complete silence, I grabbed her hand and said...

 "Jackie, let's dance!"

As we started dancing I began singing... "May I have this dance for the rest of my life..."  and then I twirled her around, she loves that.

After dropping her off at school I did some shopping and then came home and made lunch.  Then I sat down for a little break.  I decided to head on over to Lana Vawser's website and she had a new entry.

As I read her post, I was stopped in my tracks as I read this...

"I heard the Lord speaking over many, "May I have this dance?" and it was an invitation to a level of intimacy, a deeper rhythm of His heart, a new song, that they had never experienced before"

And this...

"I saw specifically where disappointment had created a wall between them and Jesus, He was melting those walls away, and He was placing in their hearts as they danced a Scroll of Destiny.  Upon this Scroll was His words of truth and destiny.  Where there had been great pain of disappointment, He was now releasing greater revelation of Destiny and Reconnection was taking place.  The Lord is extending His hand.  He is whispering...

"May I have this dance?"

On Sunday, September 10, 2017 I was going over some old posts of mine from 2016, as soon as I ran across this one here... Dance To The Finish, which was originally posted on October 23, 2016, I felt nudged to repost it.  I didn't understand why, but I did repost it.

It's interesting how the post was "Dance To The Finish", which is actually Psalm 149 and the first sentence is, "Sing to the Lord a new song and further down the line "Let them praise His name with dancing." and the very next morning I would be dancing with Jackie singing "May I have this dance..." and Lana would put up a message whereby she alleges that the Lord is whispering...
"May I have this dance?"

These are many things that just all fall into place.  Many of us are so, so weary about many things.  But we can have hope.  Hope in Him.  We are not alone.

So we say "Yes Lord!" to your invitation to dance.

This morning...

We danced.

We will Dance To The Finish.

Praise God!

Dance To The Finish

Psalm 149

Sing to the Lord a new song,
His praise in the assembly of His faithful people.

Let Israel rejoice in their Maker;
let the people of Zion be glad in their King.
Let them praise His name with dancing
and make music to Him with timbrel and harp.
For the Lord takes delight in His people;
He crowns the humble with victory.
Let His faithful people rejoice in this honor
and sing for joy on their beds.

May the praise of God be in their mouths
and a double-edged sword in their hands,
to inflict vengeance on the nations
and punishment on the peoples,
to bind their kings with fetters,
their nobles with shackles of iron,
to carry out the sentence
written against them
this is the glory of all
His faithful people.

Praise God!
